In Season & Locally Sourced
Many ingredients in this particular smoothie are in season right now - namely, blueberries, strawberries & spinach. So, find your local farmers market, snatch up some good fresh ingredients and follow these steps for a delicious, refreshing protein smoothie. Enjoy : )
2 cups spinach, fresh
2 cups almond milk, unsweetened
1 cup strawberries
1 cup blueberries
1/2 cup almonds*
+ aids in muscle growth
+ prevent blood sugar spikes
+ diminish hunger for hours
+ packed with nutrients
1. Blend spinach and almond milk until smooth.
2. Next add the remaining fruits and blend again.
I've recently started a new strategy for cooking. My previous strategy consisted of... not cooking. So, any cooking is a step in the right direction. To keep things simple as I dip my toes in to cooking trickier meals, I plan one big meal and eat the leftovers throughout the week. The implementation of smoothies in my cooking schedule allows me to make a meal that travels well and can be thrown together pretty quickly. In fact, as of tomorrow (and many Mondays to follow) I plan to cut up all the ingredients and portion them out for 5 days worth of delicious, refreshing, healthy smoothies.
